For this reason, the syndrome is also called oculo-cerebro-renal syndrome. It manifests itself already at birth with congenital cataract and severe hypotonia. Later, characteristic symptoms may appear such as glaucoma, mental retardation (of very variable severity) and motor development, seizures, behavioral disturbances, kidney problems (renal tubular acidosis), short stature, tendency to develop rickets, bone fractures, scoliosis and joint problems.
