Dysfunctions of the diaphragm are alterations in the diaphragm due to paralysis with consequent immobility during breathing. Paralysis is caused by injury to the phrenic nerve in case of severe neurological or pulmonary diseases, by diaphragmatic hernia, or by phrenic relaxatio (muscle degeneration due to a lesion of the phrenic nerve, which creates a severe breathing deficit).
