A.L.T.E., or Apparent Life-Threatening Event, are apparently life-threatening events that occur in infants under one year of age. These episodes are characterized by interruption of respiratory activity, by a cyanotic or pale color, by alteration of muscle tone (generally flaccid but can also be hypertonic), suffocation or obstruction of the airways, in some cases with loss of consciousness. Possible causes of ALTE episodes are: gastro-eophageal reflux, cardiac arrhythmias, metabolic and / or genetic disorders, carbon monoxide poisoning or acute drug intolerances. “
